 Water Experience…

There are times when certain situation brings you down, it is like there is no hope as all does not go well with all the effort you put in to see good result.

I remember walking a long distance in search of good favour (all to no good result) as I walked back home I began to faint due to the fact I had not eating that day. For some days now I have not been able to eat any food as I had no money to get the simplest of food which is garri. I prayed not to fall as I could not see, my vision was blurring, my eyes were now heavy, my legs were weak and I was in pain. I forced myself to continue to move, I could hear the voice of people, sounds from moving vehicles and the wind blowing towards many direction. I now felt the heat from the burning sun but still my need at that moment was not met; I was so hungry and thirsty at the same time, each second were like my last, my breath was now becoming weak as it takes more of my strength and energy. 

I felt the need to rest and pray, nothing was coming to mind; I began to imagine what could happen in the next few minutes if nothing will be done as I felt I might give up. I was now moving slowly seeing myself close to dying yet I was not, I tried not to fall as it will not be of help in such situation. I walked down the road, my body was now very hot and I was shivering like one having a cold. I never gave up as I continued to force myself to move, suddenly I could hear sound one different from the voice of people, and also it was not the sound of moving vehicle neither the sound of the wind. I began to pray for it to be real and not an imagination as I tried to locate the direction of the sound; I walked closer and closer as quick as my legs could take me and to my very surprise it was real.

The sound of water from a tap running into a bowl, with people around with kegs and buckets waiting to get water for their use. I walked to them not knowing what to say, I tried to be of good courage as I approached the people by the tap; and all I could say was “pleas I am thirsty I want to drink water.” The ladies were surprised as one said do you have what to put the water in, “No” I said but will drink from my palm. One of the ladies allowed me as she moved her bowl away from the tap, I bent washed my hands as I began to sip the water slowly from my palm as one taking a drink from a flowing stream; I could feel happiness, joy and strength all at the same time. I became alive, the faint was no more, the pain is now gone I became new as one that just got up from a long rest. Thanks for letting me have a drink, God bless you this I said as I walked back to the road to continue my journey back home. This time I was able to walk well moving freely, I could not only hear the sounds but was also able to see clearly.
