Experience

The dictionary defines the word Experience as “Knowledge obtained by doing” or “Something one has lived through”.

They say “Experience is the best teacher”,  which I sometimes never agree to the saying due to the fact that in life it is not until one do certain things he or she gets to learn; From those who have been corrected by their errors you can easily learn from.

Please don’t crucify me, just hear all I need to say it might be a short or a long write up.

Growing up can be fun or annoying from one’s point of view.

As a child if you make a request from your parent, or one older than you and you get that which you have asked for you are very happy; to such child he or she believes that the parent cares so much and will never hurt them no matter what happen. On the other hand if a child goes to his or her parent to make a request and gets nothing from them he or she might start to think that no one cares (which is not true most of the time).

There are those born into a home where everyone shows love ; some are born into a home where there is hatred and others are not born into a home at all (Children abandoned by the way); Everyone will have to grow differently as the environment will have a lot to impact into them.  

Many Good parent will always find a good way to bring out the very best in their child or children while the bad parent seems not to be concerned about what the children are up to; the good parent learnt from their experience and that of others and want the children to learn also while the bad parent feels the children should know better since they the parents are yet to learn from others experience.

Experience goes a long way; 

        

       One can learn from the family either from yours or people you have come across. 

        

       One can also learn from books, in the education sector the books we read guides our learning process taking us one step at a time to know what is needed and how to apply what is needed. 

                

               One also learns from the environment he or she is, have been to and will get to.

                

             One also learns from those he or she come in contact with either in person or through various channels (the internet via various social media platform)

                

               One learns more from what he or she sees and hear.  

You do not need to be a failure to become a success, you can learn from the mistakes made by  people before you avoid doing them so you can excel in that field you are in.

A man fails an exam he wrote and is to re-take the same exam the following year; the same thing happened the second year as he did not prepare for any of his course. He was invited by the Head of the department the second year where he was asked what the problem was when he failed the second time. He gave complains saying “I have not been able to study well, most times I never understand what I read and I am yet to get all needed materials for all my course”. The Head of department watched as he spoke taking notes of all his answers which he replied saying “since these are your problems what solution did you make available? Have you approached your fellow course-mate for assistance  or any of your lecturers? Have you constructed a good reading or study time table to aid your learning process? Do you plan to get all the needed materials that will make you excel in the course you study?”

The young man was without words as he looked down at his feet realizing he has spent most of his time complaining when he was to look for solution, he now understand that he has not learnt from his experience as he still makes the same mistake. Still sorry for himself he looked at the Head of his department and said “Thank you Sir for your words, before now I have not taken time to bring out the best in me as I choose not to care but with all you have said I will put in my best correcting my mistakes as I have learnt from my experience.”

The third year after the exam he came out a success in all the course he prepared for and was filled with joy as he was now bold to approach the Head of his department to tell him the good news.

Just like the story many are yet to realize that taking the same step or carrying out the same action when there is no positive result in it shows one is yet to learn from an experience. They believe it is all they can do and choose to continue that way and with time they become total failure.

I will be so grateful if everyone will be corrected from either their experience or that of others.
